department & apartment

我时常将department和apartment混淆，前者是部门、局、处、系，后者是公寓套房。

apartment还有一个近义词：dormitory，但apartment更偏向于豪华一点的，旅游或出差时候住的那种酒店公寓，而dormitory是集体宿舍、学生宿舍。

看回来department和apartment——我甚至百度了一下。。。看来没有人有我这个困扰

噢。。还能看到apartment的第二个近义词：flat。据说apartment是美国人的叫法，flag是英国人的叫法。

再一次看回来department和apartment（没错，重要的话题要标明三遍）

depart是离开，出发，启程的意思，而apart是相隔，相距的意思。这样看来，depart-ment离开某个地方是部门，而apart-ment相隔某个地方是宿舍

这样就好解释通了，部门总有解散的那一刻，而宿舍是不同房间分割的地方，所以department是部门，apartment是宿舍，好记~
