Data Warehouse Applications

Three types of DW Application.

DW is the basis of these applications.

1.Information Processing

The information can be processed by means of querying,basic statiscal analysis,reporting using crosstabs,charts or graphs.

2.OLAP

The data can be analysed by means of basic OLAP operations,including slice,dice,drill down/upn and pivoting.

Need to be compared with OLTP.

3.DM(Data Mining)

By finding the hidden patterns and associations,constructing analytical models,performing classification and prediction.

DM can be furthur and deeper use of DW and OLAP can‘t replace the DM.
